Krull Park in Olcott is the largest county-operated park in Niagara County, and the Town of Newfane Marina at the mouth of Eighteen Mile Creek is a working boating and fishing harbor.

The town has a north-south divide: Olcott and the lakefront hamlets are oriented toward boating, fishing, and recreational tourism, while the southern part of the town functions more as a suburban extension of the City of Lockport. The current tourism draw in Olcott is comparatively modest, centered on the marina, park, and fishing, rather than the thriving amusement-park-style economy of its early-20th-century heyday, as many of the historic Coney-Island-style beach attractions have closed.

A key caution: the Olcott-Newfane Airport is closed indefinitely except for ultralight aircraft and should not be described as an active general-aviation facility. The hamlet of Wrights Corners sits on Newfane's south town line and is partly within the Town of Lockport, so a Wrights Corners fact should be verified against the boundary before being attributed solely to Newfane.
